MiraCosta College’s Certified Nursing Assistant Program:

MiraCosta College has been offering the Certified Nursing Assistant Program since 1987.

Program Details: The duration of the program is eight-week, which is offered twice a semester. The program is also offered once in the summer for a period of six-weeks. The program consists of 79 hours of theory and 105 hours of clinical training at local health care facilities.

Eligibility:
1. In order to qualify for this program the applicants must be students of the college enrolled in Nursing 160 program.
2. Before getting enrolled into NURS160, the applicants must clear the English requirement which is English 803 or ESL 803 and must submit the American Heart Association HealthCare Provider CPR Card.
3. Recipients must bring their CPR card, physical examination report including TB test on the first day of their class.

Program Fee: The program costs $550 which includes books cost, physical exam, tuition, CPR card, tuberculosis skin test and State exam. The tuition fees may vary.

Country Villa Health Services Nursing Assistant Training Program:

Country Villa Healthcare Centers provides a variety of CNA training programs for their healthcare employees as well as for those who are interested in joining the healthcare community. Nursing Assistant Training course is offered to prepare the students take the state certification exam.

The program consists of 53 hours of classroom based instruction and 103 hours of clinical experience in approved health care facility. Clinical hours will be held between 6:00a.m and 8:00p.m. The students have to put on scrubs with clean shoes.

San Diego County Regional Occupational Program (ROP)’s Nurse Assistant Program:

The San Diego County ROP offers occupational training programs accredited by Western Association of Schools and Colleges to both adults and high school students across the county. There will be a fee for adults to join their ROP courses and for high school students, the courses are tuition free.

Due to the budget crisis, Oceanside Unified School District cancelled all adult ROP courses which include Nurse Assistant course. For high school students, the school does not offer the Nurse Assistant course at their premises.

Located at 24 miles from Oceanside, CA, Escondido Union High School District offers NURSE ASSIST/HOME HEALTH AIDE program training which can lead the students to take the State of California certification to become a CNA

Program Details: To complete the course, 240-380 hours are required which includes classroom instruction, hands on clinical experience and laboratory.

Requirements: 
1. At the time of enrollment into the course, the applicants must be fingerprinted by the Department of Health Services
2. The candidates must pass the basic reading and math comprehension test
3. Adults and high school seniors of age 17 ½ are eligible to apply
4. When taking the NATAP test, students must be at least 18 years old.
