Enrollment Requirements

Before you begin any nursing assistant training, you need to do several important things. You need to obtain a criminal background check, recent tuberculosis skin test and current CPR certification. Some of the schools require admission’s testing, such as reading assessments, before you begin. The state requires 75 hours of clinical training before you sit for the certification examination. However, a number of Tulsa programs offer longer courses.

After taking the certification exam, you need to register with state. The Oklahoma State Department of Health issues all CNA credentials to program graduates. You must keep up with your continuing education training and renew your certification every two years. The state health department will mail you a reminder when it is time to renew.
